NOW IN MYSORE: A file photo of an open-top double-decker bus which will ferry tourists to hotspots in Mysore during Dasara.
MYSORE: An open-top sightseeing bus service will be introduced in Mysore for the Dasara festival. Announcing this here on Tuesday, Minister in-charge of Mysore district D.T. Jayakumar said internationally designed open-top double-decker buses would take tourists around tourist hotspots covering all major attractions such as Mysore Palace, Jaganmohan Palace, the zoo, Kaveri Emporium, Town Hall, Karanji Lake, Natural History Museum, Lalit Mahal Palace, Railway Museum and the railway station. The service, which promises to offer a unique sightseeing experience for tourists during Dasara, is scheduled for a September 20 launch. The service has been brought to Mysore by Concept Tree Creations, an extension of City Swaps, which launched a city sightseeing service recently in Bangalore. The open-top bus will cover 16 km, touching important places of tourist interest in Mysore. Tourists wishing to savour the experience will have to purchase a day pass, which offers them the flexibility of hopping on and hopping off at any place and spend as much time as they want at each spot. "The tour is expected to be over in an hour. But tourists will be able to hop onto the next bus on the route every hour," a promoter said. The day pass is likely to be priced around Rs. 200 each. A kiosk, which provides round-the-clock telephonic information about Dasara festival, was also inaugurated.
