BANGALORE: The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) is ready with an action plan to supply water during daytime in all areas of the city. Announcing this at the inauguration of a refresher course organised by the Board for BWSSB engineers and staff of the West division recently, BWSSB Chairman N.C. Muniyappa said he was aware of the inconvenience caused to citizens because of supply at night. "Over 40 per cent of the areas in the city are getting drinking water during the night. This is not only causing inconvenience to citizens but also resulting in wastage and leakage of water. That is why we are planning to supply water in all areas during the daytime," Mr. Muniyappa said.
Action plan
He said the Executive Engineers of all the six maintenance divisions of the Board had formulated the action plan and that it would be implemented shortly. Mr. Muniyappa wanted the water inspectors and valvemen to ensure that this project was successfully implemented. He called upon them to shun traditional methods of working and make efforts to fulfil the aspirations of consumers. "All officials, including the junior level staff, should be enthusiastic in implementing the consumer-friendly measures being initiated by the board," he said. BWSSB Executive Engineer (West) Narayan explained the functioning of the West Division. Chief Engineer (Waste Water Management) T. Venkataraju, Financial Adviser C.V. Prasad and other senior officials were present.
