Youth killed in accident

Thiruvananthapuram: A 29-year-old youth was killed when the motorbike he was riding rammed a wall at Poothamada-Kottavarambu on Tuesday afternoon. The deceased was identified as Bijukumar, of Biju Bhavan, Panayamuttom, Nedumangad. Saju, 22, who was riding pillion, was admitted to Medical College Hospital (MCH) with injuries. — Staff Reporter

Six injured

Thiruvananthapuram: A man and his wife were injured when the motorbike they were travelling on was hit by a KSRTC bus near Kazhakkuttam on Tuesday. Abdul Latheef, 45, and Shaila Beevi, 42, of Pothencode, were admitted to the MCH. In another incident, a family of four was injured when the autorickshaw in which they were travelling overturned at Paalamoodu on Tuesday. Abdul Salam, 40, his wife, Jaleela Beevi, 35, and their children, Badriya, 10, and Al-Amin, 6, were taken to the MCH. The children have been admitted to SAT Hospital while the parents are in the MCH. — Staff Reporter

Onam kits distributed

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Mounted Police Grass Cutting Women Welfare Association on Tuesday distributed Onam kits at the Theerthapada Mandapam. The kits were distributed by Shiv Sena State unit leader M.S. Bhuvanachandran. Onam was being celebrated with pomp when labourers were being denied bonus and other benefits, said Mr. Bhuvanachandran in a release. — Staff Reporter

Bonsai exhibition

Thiruvananthapuram: A bonsai exhibition will be organised by the Kerala Bonsai Association at the Jawahar Bal Bhavan from September 7 to 10. The exhibition is being organised to create awareness about this art, said a press note here on Tuesday. The exhibition will be inaugurated by Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan at 10 a.m. It will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on all four days. — Staff Reporter
