HYDERABAD: Lauding the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Andhra Pradesh branch, for reaching the one-lakh member target, Governor Rameshwar Thakur stressed the need for more volunteers to expand the society's activities in the State. The Governor who presented awards to members for their contribution to membership enrolment, raising donations and sustained meritorious services at a function here on Tuesday, said more members from various walks of life and having special skills should be enrolled for taking up emergency work in times of need.

The Patron of Andhra Pradesh IRCS Saroj Bajaj was presented a gold medal, while Urmila Chandrasekhara Reddy, Honorary Vice-President, was presented a gold-plated silver medal.
Other recipients
The other award recipients included Y.V. Anuradha, Director, Women Development & Child Welfare, L. Prem Chandra Reddy, Ranga Reddy district Collector and E. Damodar, SP, Ranga Reddy, and Mahesh Bhagawat, SP Nalgonda.
