NEW DELHI: The All-India Kisan Sabha will organise countrywide demonstrations at district headquarters on September 14 against the "anti-farmer'' policies of the Government. Demonstrations will also be held on October 10 before all State Assemblies to press the demand for waiving of agricultural debt, fresh farm loans from cooperative banks at four per cent interest, supply of non-spurious seeds, fertilizers and pesticides and remunerative prices for farm produce. At the centre of the protests would be the "anti-farmer policy of land-grab in the name of Special Economic Zones." Announcing this here on Wednesday, general secretary of the Sabha Atul Kumar Anjaan said there should be a `Land Users Board' in every State which with representatives from farmers' organisations. "Without the clearance of the board, land should not be allowed to be acquired for SEZs.'' Mr. Anjaan said despite repeated assurances by the Central and State Governments, no beneficial policies had been framed, forcing farmers to commit suicides in large numbers.
