Order soon on teachers' salaries

Staff Correspondent

Bidar: The Government will soon come out with an order fixing minimum salaries for teachers in private education institutions, BJP MLC Shashil G. Namoshi has said.

The Government was likely to fix Rs. 3,300 per month for primary school teachers and Rs. 4,575 per month for high school teachers, he said.

He was speaking at the Teacher's Day celebrations of the Nightingale Public School here on Tuesday.

He said the Government was thinking of adopting the Maharashtra model of providing grant-in-aid to schools. There, the Government released 25 per cent aid once the school started functioning.

The aid was increased to 50 per cent after the school completed constructing buildings and providing other infrastructure. The remaining aid was released after the school completed a certain number of years, he said.

A team of senior officials would soon go to Maharashtra to study the model and submit a report, he said.

Retired professor B.R. Konda, Hyderabad Karnataka Abhivruddhi Vibhaga convenor Revanasiddappa Jalade and Gyana Karanji School Trust president Manikappa Gornale, were present.
