VIJAYAWADA: The Association of Oto-laryngologists of India (AOI), Andhra Pradesh branch, will celebrate its silver jubilee at a three-day convention beginning here on September 8 at Fortune Murali Park. AIO - AP silver jubilee conference organising chairman C. Babji and secretary P.S.N. Murthy told reporters here on Wednesday that Dr. N.T.R. University of Health Sciences Vice-Chancellor R. Sambasiva Rao would formally inaugurate the celebrations on Friday evening. AOI all-India president B.K. Roy Chaudhuri, State president C.V. Ramana Rao and Mayor Tadi Sakuntala would participate in the function. Dr. Ramana Rao said Vijayawada hosted the first conference in the State and after 25 years it was hosting the silver jubilee conference. About 300 delegates from different parts of the State would attend the convention. Guests from other disciplines of medicine that were related to ENT would deliver lectures, conduct workshops, demonstrations and seminars to keep the delegates abreast of the latest developments in the specialisation. Early detection of deafness and throat cancer was needed to reduce morbidity, he said.
Live workshop
A pre-conference live surgical workshop for demonstrating micro and endoscopic ear and nose surgery would be conducted at Dr. Prashanth's Urology Hospital on Friday. ENT surgeons who were presidents of the association in these 25 years would be felicitated on the occasion,Dr. Ramana Rao said. Organising committee treasurer K. Sivaramakrishna and member Singari Prabhakar were present.
