Irate commuters detain bus

Coimbatore: Irate commuters from Kaliakkanaickenpalayam near Thondamuthur area on Wednesday detained a town bus and blocked the road in protest against cancellation of bus services to their area.

The agitators included a large number of office-goers, students and farmers visiting the City regularly. They were agitated over the cancellation of a regular town bus plying to their area for the second day. The agitators said that on Tuesday the service was cancelled without citing any reason and cancelled again on Wednesday stating that it was due to a breakdown. The agitators took objection to the practice of giving secondary treatment to bus services for such rural un-served sector and resorted to the agitation.
