Jharkhand imbroglio

The political turmoil in Jharkhand seems destined to become a seasonal affair. With a small legislature of 82 and many political parties in the arena, the people's mandate would always tend to be fractured. The vote-share and seat-share thrown up by successive elections will always carry the seeds of instability. While there can be little doubt that this will adversely affect the development of the State, there appears to be no remedy for it in the present system.
