Horatti inaugurates government high school

Teachers urged to discharge their duties responsibly


  • Minister promises infrastructure for the school
  • Need for interaction between elected representatives and people stressed



    SCHOOL STARTED: Primary and Secondary Education Minister Basavaraj Horatti unveiling the stone plaque to mark the inauguration of the New Government High School at Pendar Galli in Hubli on Wednesday.

    HUBLI: Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Basavaraj Horatti inaugurated the newly-sanctioned New Government High School at Pendar Galli here on Wednesday.

    The school will start functioning from the building of the Government Primary School for Girls No. 2 at Pendar Galli. Speaking after unveiling the stone plaque to mark the inauguration, the Minister promised to provide infrastructure for the new school. Presiding over the function, Revenue and district-in-charge Minister Jagadish Shettar said the coalition Government had started more schools compared to previous years, which proved its priority to education. In an age where private educational institutions were taking over the education sector, teachers in government school should discharge their duties responsibly, he said.

    Pralhad Joshi, MP from Dharwad North, said regular discussions between elected representatives and people would lead to more developmental activities. He called on teachers to change the general opinion towards government schools.

    Former council member Nagesh P. Kalburgi spoke.

    Former MLA Ashok Katwe, vice-president of the zilla panchayat B.B. Gangadharmath, former council member Ranga Baddi, Lingaraj Patil and others were present. Block education officer B.M. Nalatwad welcomed the gathering. Deputy Director of Public Instruction V.M. Patil proposed a vote of thanks.
