Football match result withheld after altercation

Bangalore: The State `B' division football league semifinal match between Thilak Memorial and Sree Gajanana ended in chaos at the Malleswaram Ground here on Wednesday.

Thilak Memorial was leading 2-1 in the second half when its defender Kamlesh committed a foul on Devendra of Sree Gajanana near the goalmouth.

Soon an altercation ensued between the two teams and with the crowd too turning unruly, the match was terminated and the result was not announced. The result will be announced within the next few days after referee Suresh Kumar submits a report to the authorities and until then all the remaining matches of the league — the second semifinal and final — stand postponed.

Earlier, K.N. Majumdar scored a brace for Thilak Memorial and Ram Rao scored Sree Gajanana's lone goal.

Sarda in lead

Delhi's Harshvardhan Sarda surged into the lead at the end of game 18 in the Amoeba National tenpin bowling championship at the Amoeba Bowling Centre here on Wednesday. In the women's section, National champion Sabeena Saleem of Tamil Nadu maintained her lead with a 20-point margin over Anuradha Sarda (Del).
