KOLLAM: Four persons died in road accidents in Kollam district between Thiruvonam day and Wednesday. A man was killed in an accident at Kulakada Junction in Kottarakara on Wenesday evening. Details were not available at the time the report was filed. The delay in the arrival of the police to the accident site resulted in violence erupting there. A mob attacked and damaged the police jeep, which arrived there later. Raghavan, 52, was killed when a KSRTC bus rammed his motorbike at Mylacaud on National Highway 47 early on Wednesday. Raghavan died on the spot. Vijayakumar, who was riding pillion, was admitted to a hospital in Kottiyam with serious injuries. Raghavan and Vijayakumar were fish traders and were on their way to Kollam to buy fish. The Kottiyam police have registered a case. In yet another accident, a 35-year-old jawan, Sajeev, was killed near Kottarakara on the NH 208 on Wednesday morning. The police said Sajeev was returning home on a motorcycle along with his son, Amal. The bike crashed onto a wall and Sajeev died on the spot. Amal has been admitted to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital with injuries. Sajeev was serving at Shillong and had come home on leave. The Kottarakara police have registered a case. A 33-year-old KSRTC bus conductor, Sajeev, was killed in another bike accident at Ambalathungala Killoor junction, near Kottarakara, early on Tuesday morning. The police said the accident occurred when he was returning home after night duty. He was attached to the Kottarakara KSRTC stand.
