Breakthrough in Kuwaiti trader's murder case

Staff Reporter

Ex-partner alleged to have hired killers

KADAPA: The police achieved a breakthrough in the brutal murder of a trader in Kuwait, Dharmisetty Srihari (32), who was attacked by six persons with sickles and daggers soon after he alighted a bus at Seven Roads junction here late on Tuesday night.

Srihari, hailing from Rajampet, was on his way to Shirdi along with a friend Ramana. Police seized a dagger left on the back of the victim by the assailants and the Sumo used by the gang.

Reddy Narayana of Rayachoti, a former partner in a super market run by Srihari in Kuwait, plotted the murder by engaging some hired hands, Kadapa West Circle Inspector V. Narayanaswamy Reddy said on Wednesday. Narayana, who later set up a business of his own in Kuwait, allegedly owed several lakhs of rupees to Srihari, he said. Both Srihari and Narayana had returned from Kuwait two months ago.

As Srihari pressurised Narayana to repay his dues with threats, the latter hatched a conspiracy to eliminate Srihari, the CI said. Police interrogated Ramana who was accompanying Srihari to Shirdi. Narayana and other culprits are at large.
