Reddy's meeting with the swamiji assumes importance in the context of a campaign the pontiff had spearheaded a couple of months ago against the alleged evangelic activities on the Tirumala hills. According to reports reaching here, the Chairman has taken the opportunity to explain to the swamiji the steps being taken by the TTD not only to set at rest the controversy but also for the protection and promotion of the Hindu dharma and Srinivasa cult by increasing manifold the budget allocation to the TTD's Dharma Prachara Parishat. Sources said the Chairman has invited the seer to visit Tirumala for the annual Brahmothsavams.
