M. Thiagarajan
HYDERABAD: Paramount Airways (PA) has announced more connections to Bangalore, Chennai, Coimbatore, Tirupati and Visakhapatnam in the next 60 days, placing two new Brazilian Embraer 170/175 series aircraft here for out-of-Hyderabad operations. At a press conference on Wednesday, M. Thiagarajan, Managing Director, said the all-business class flight service provider, would soon introduce first class service with a choice of seats and 16 meal options. It would also offer passengers the convenience of printing boarding passes while booking tickets online. "We wish to consolidate and saturate operations in the south before making forays into the north and west. PA is clearly positioned to meet the demands of the corporate sector and those who prefer high-end flying, with balanced fares," he said. Unveiling expansion plans, he said by 2007-end, PA would have 12 aircraft. The number would go up to 15 by next year. The Embraer had lightning sensors and clear air turbulence detection systems to help pilots navigate better and reduce passenger inconvenience, he said. PA operated on an over 85 per cent planeload factor.
Reduced tax
Mr. Thiagarajan said earlier in the day, he had called on Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and apprised him of the airline's expansion and operational plans. The Andhra Pradesh Government had offered PA the facility of a reduced 4 per cent tax as against 29 per cent on aviation turbine fuel if it operated the stipulated number of flights in the State.
