HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy has said the Government is committed to implementing the Girglani Commission report in toto.

He gave the assurance while addressing leaders of the Joint Action Committee of Telangana Employees, Teachers and Workers, who called on him on Wednesday.

Responding to a memorandum by the JAC, Dr. Reddy said the Government had accepted the report in letter and spirit. The Cabinet sub-committee had immediately initiated action in the Police Department.

He asked JAC leaders to meet the sub-committee to put forth their demands so that the report could be implemented. The memorandum listed 34 demands.

On the leaders' plea for proper representation to Telangana people in appointments, the Chief Minister said the Government was adhering to rules.

He pointed out that a person from Telangana was made member of the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission, while two were posted as Vice-Chancellors of Telangana and Yogi Vemana Universities.

He said a retired chief engineer from the region was made director of AP Transco, by giving special relaxation.

Earlier, JAC chairman D. Sudhakar brought to Dr. Reddy's notice that though several concessions had been given to employees of Telangana, justice was not being done at the lower level.

    Early orders

He said the only way to remove apprehension of Telangana employees was to implement the Girglani report in toto.

He urged Dr. Reddy to issue early orders on the report to create confidence among the employees. Nalgonda MLA K. Venkat Reddy was present.
