KUDA master plan in one year

Meetings to be organised to elicit recommendations, objections


  • 150 acres to be earmarked for hi-tech weaving park and 450 acres for industrial area
  • KUDA to acquire land from private parties
  • 44-km ring road from Rangasaipet to be developed

    WARANGAL: The State Government has accorded permission to the Kakatiya Urban Development Authority (KUDA) to come out with a master plan for the town, KUDA Chairman Ch. Srinivas Reddy has said.

    The master plan will be prepared keeping in view the development of the town in the next ten years.

    Delhi-based organisation Consulting Engineering Services will set up its temporary office at KUDA premises for the purpose. They will organise a series of meetings involving individuals, organisations, various Government and private agencies and resident welfare associations to seek their recommendations and objections.

    No plan for 35 years

    According to Chairman Ch. Srinivas Reddy and Vice-Chairman Syed Omer Jaleel, last time, the master plan for the town was prepared in 1971 and for the past 35 years, there has been no plan for the development of the town. "The KUDA will take up the task with an estimate Rs. 43 lakhs. In one year, a master plan will be in place," they said.

    According to Mr. Srinivas Reddy, 150 acres of land will be earmarked for setting up a hi-tech weaving Park and 450 acres for industrial area. The KUDA proposes to acquire land from private parties and individuals before developing and selling them. Before finalise the ring road, the authority plans to develop the existing 44-km ring road from Rangasaipet to Kadipikonda.

    Azam Jahi Mills land

    Referring to the Azam Jahi Mills' land, Mr. Srinvias Reddy says the KUDA is trying to purchase 135 acres from the National Textile Corporation for Rs. 33 crores.

    "The State Government is not giving money. We are raising bank loans to purchase the land, develop and sell the same to raise huge finances for the development of projects to be undertaken by the KUDA," he explains.
