Varsity to offer courses in electronic media

They will be under self-financing schemes


  • The courses are Master of Science in Electronic Media and PG Diploma in Electronic Media
  • Students have to take up projects and complete a set of broadcast quality productions

    MYSORE: The University of Mysore will offer two courses in electronic media under self-financing schemes from this academic year.

    The courses are a two-year Master of Science in Electronic Media and a one-year Postgraduate Diploma in Electronic Media.

    In a press release issued here on Wednesday, A. Balasubramanian, Director, Educational Multimedia Centre at Manasagangotri, said the modules taught in the M.Sc. course included visual media and communication, digital media and instrumentation, cinematography, editing, digital video and digital audio, production planning and management, script writing for electronic media, graphics and animation, and TV production, among others.

    Students would be working on projects and had to complete a set of broadcast quality productions. They would be exposed to the latest skills and equipment, Prof. Balasubramanian said.

    The eligibility for admission was graduate degree with journalism, business management, physics, electronics, computer science, mathematics, statistics and visual communications as one of the subjects or any graduate with one-year diploma in computer applications or one-year experience in TV production, he said.

    All regulations governing postgraduate degree courses in science and technology of the university were applicable to these courses.

    There were 20 seats for Indian students and four for those from abroad. The courses would commence on October 5. The last date for admission was September 25, he said.
