KOLLAM: Sale of liquor by the Kerala State Beverages Corporation (KSBC) through its retail outlets during the Onam season (August 30 to September 5) touched a record of over Rs.100 crore. This does not include the sale of liquor through bars. A top KSBC official said here on Wednesday that Onam liquor sales during the seven days this year was 20 per cent more than the sales during the corresponding period last year. In monetary terms, the additional sale touched Rs.15 crore. According to tentative figures available, on Uthradam day alone the sale of liquor through the KSBC retail outlets touched Rs.17 crore.
Highest on Uthradam
The highest sale in the State on Uthradam day was at the KSBC's retail outlet number 36 at Karunagapally. Here the turnover was Rs.15 lakh. Through the 24 KSBC outlets in Kollam district, the sale on Uthradam day was Rs.1.43 crore. All over the State, Rum brands sold the most followed by brandy brands.
