Woman hacked to death in Krishnalanka

Staff Reporter

VIJAYAWADA: A 38-year-old woman was hacked to death at her house at Tarakarama Nagar in Krishnalanka on Tuesday. The Krishnalanka police suspected the role of the victim's husband B. Babjee in the offence.

The police said Aashabee Begum was in a pool of blood, when her son Vali returned home from work around 11 p.m. Neighbours informed the police. They told the police that heated exchange between the husband and wife was a commonplace in their house every night, as Aashabee was asking her husband to stop consuming liquor.

The police suspected that Babjee might have attacked Aashabee with a sickle. He, however, fled the scene. The body was sent to the Government General Hospital for a post-mortem. The police deputed special parties to launch a search for Babjee.

The police said that Aashabee walked out of her first marriage after giving birth to two children nine years ago and married Babjee of Machilipatnam.

They were settled in Tarakarama Nagar and Babjee had opened a driving school. Aashabee's elder son Vali was working in a wine shop, while daughter Shamee was studying class IX in a local school.
