Lorry ploughs into group of persons, four seriously injured
VISAKHAPATNAM:
Tragedy struck a Ganesh immersion rally when a lorry ploughed into a group of persons, as a result of brake failure, on Wednesday.
Villagers of Yendapallivalasa, near Araku, were taking the idol of Lord Ganesh for immersion around 6 p.m. They were in a joyful mood chanting slogans in praise of Lord Ganesh, when the lorry ran over them killing four persons on the spot and injuring grievously four others. The injured persons are being shifted to the King George Hospital here for medical attention.
A pall of gloom descended on the village following the tragedy.
The Araku police rushed to the scene on getting information and are investigating the case.
