Learn to run an organisation, students told

GOVERNMENT RAMNARAYAN Chellaram College of Commerce and Management conducted orientation programme for Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree holders recently. K. Dinesh, Co-founder of Infosys, was the chief guest. He said that leadership was all about handling difficult things. He told the students that it was important to develop a holistic view to run an organisation.

B. L. Bhagyalakshmi, Principal, Maharani's College, said that education made a person confident and it was the foremost need. K. Janardhanam, Director, Canara Bank School of Management Studies, spoke. Principal G.M. Mahadeva Raju was present.

College event

Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain College has organised an event called "Corporate Ex-Pro 2006" on September 8 for PU students and on September 9 for degree students. The event is designed to give students a corporate exposure. Every participant would be given a product or topic and would have to do market research and prepare a presentation. The participants would have their own separate stall or enclosure to showcase their product. "Watch them being put to test as they sell you an idea, a product, a company or even an industry," say the organisers.

The event is aimed at providing students an opportunity to enhance their presentation skills and understand the importance of working as a team. For details, call 9880967944.

Education fair

Representatives from over 20 educational institutions from across New Zealand counselled parents and students at the New Zealand Education Fair 2006 held in Bangalore on Tuesday.

Education New Zealand, a Government-funded organisation, is organising the fair for the eighth year in a row.

Inaugurating the fair in Bangalore, Graeme Waters, New Zealand's High Commissioner to India, said: "We are overwhelmed with the response. India is an important market for us and we have witnessed 9 per cent growth this year over last year."

Convergence 2006

The city-based IFIM B-School has called for papers from academics and corporates for its event, Convergence 2006, on "B-School Ranking: impacts and issues". The annual conference, Convergence 2006 "B-school ranking: impacts and issues" will be held on November 3 at the IFIM B-School campus in Electronics City, Bangalore. Interested academics and corporates would submit papers on the theme of the conference. The abstract can be submitted on or before September 20 and the last day for the submission for final paper is October 10.
