Admission

Abhinaya Taranga, the theatre school run by veteran theatre artist A.S. Murthy, will start classes of one-year diploma course from October 15. Classes will be conducted on acting, direction, stage preparation, dress design and lighting. The classes will be conducted between 6 p.m. and 8.30 p.m. on weekdays and between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Sunday. The selection of candidates will begin on September 17. For details, call 9845825217.

Kannada training

The Department of Kannada and Culture will conduct two-day training of teachers who will be involved in teaching Kannada to people who do not have knowledge of the language. The training is part of the programme to use Kannada in administration. Those interested can send their application to the Commissioner of the Department before September 25. Poultry training

The Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services had called applications for the 10-day poultry training from September 11 to 20. The programme will be held in the State Poultry Farm, Hesaraghatta. For details, meet the Deputy Director of the State Poultry Farm.

Talent search

Ranga Samsthana, a folk music and folk art training centre, will organise a State-level folk music talent search programme from the last week of October. College students and folk singers can participate in the programme. The last date for sending the names is September 20. Elected

M.V. Raju has been elected as President of Karnataka General Insurance SVRS Officers Retirees Association. The other office-bearers of the association include S. Krishna Swamy, Ashok Kumar, M.S.N. Bhagwan, M.S. Srinivasan, Nagesh Agadi and D.K. Shankar.

Dental centre

Health Minister R. Ashok will open Kidz Dental Centre, an exclusive dental centre for children, on September 10. The dental centre is on New BEL Road. For details, call 23516491.

Teachers award

Book Paradise has called applications of teachers for this year's Book Paradise Teachers Award. Teachers aged between 35 and 40 working in the State can apply.
