NEW DELHI: Reliance Communications on Thursday joined hands with Nokia to market `Nokia 1255' mobile handsets across the country at Rs. 1,999. "This initiative will provide a new impetus to the burgeoning Indian telecom market by providing consumers a high quality mobile experience at an affordable price level,'' Reliance Communications CEO Sajive Kanwar said here on Thursday. With this Nokia partnership, the company is expecting to sell about two million handsets in the next six months, Mr. Kanwar said. Nokia Sales Director Sunil Dutt said, "This offer will help our company enter the emerging markets by providing consumers affordable solutions.''

UNI reports: "The Indian telecom sector is now witnessing an unprecedented growth curve and a mobile phone has become a multifunctional device. This association with Nokia aims to further enhance our superior value offerings, both in terms of service experience and functionality, at affordable prices to customers,'' Reliance Communications President, Wireless Business, S. P. Shukla, said. This is Nokia's maiden offer of a CDMA handset in the sub-Rs. 2,000 range. In addition to its superior voice capabilities and easy to use Nokia user interface, the 80-gram black and white handset has built-in productivity enhancing tools such as two-way hands free speakerphone, voice recorder and a calendar with an alarm clock. The phone delivers up to four hours of talk time and up to ten days of standby time. Additional features include: built-in games, 20 ring tones and selection of user-selectable screen savers.
