Government's `wrong' policies criticised

BJP is a weak coalition partner: Tanveer Sait

MADIKERI: Former Minister Tanveer Sait has criticised the coalition Government for its alleged anti-people policies. He was speaking at a function organised by the Kodagu Rural Block Congress at Napoklu near here on Thursday.

Mr. Sait said the BJP, which had no stand of its own, had grown to be a weak coalition partner and had become a mute spectator to the misrule of the Janata Dal (S).

He appealed to the Congress workers to take this message to the people in Kodagu district.

Mr. Sait also said that the Government, which came to power on the "mantra of development", had failed in giving the people their share of development.

The bad roads, bad drinking water and irrigation schemes and the deteriorating power situation were some of the "highlights" of the "development" given by the coalition Government, Mr. Sait said.

Somwarpet MLA B.A. Jivijaya alleged that the Government was involved in many scandals and controversies and it appeared that the Chief Minister and his coalition partners would not be able to tide over the situation.

Former Minister T. John and District Congress president Veena Achaiah spoke.
