Annamalai varsity keeps winning

Madurai: Annamalai University beat YMCA College, Chennai 15-25, 25-12, 25-19, 25-13 for its second win in the semifinal round robin league to set up a title clash with defending champion, Loyola College, Chennai, which beat Sethu Institute of Technology, Kariapatti 25-16, 25-15, 25-16, also for its second win in the league, in the fourth annual Kamaraj memorial trophy state-level inter-collegiate volleyball tournament here on Thursday.

Upset win for Kaliswari

Kaliswari College, Sivakasi toppled the defending champion Saraswathy Narayanan College, Madurai by nine runs in the Madurai Kamaraj University `A' zone inter-collegiate cricket tournament at Madurai on Thursday.

The scores: S.R. Naidu Memorial College, Sattur 143 for two in 16 overs (Pandiaraj 57 not out, T. Vasudeva Prabu 44) bt S.P. College 40 in 15 overs (Vijay four for six).

MAVMM Arts and Science College 99 for eight in 18 overs (Kishan Singh 27, Manikandan four for 18) bt Subbulakshmi College 88 in 13 overs.

Kaliswari College, Sivakasi 68 in 16 overs (Kumar four for 12) bt Saraswathy Narayanan College 59 in 16 overs (P.Suresh Kumar three for 10).

ANJA College, Sivakasi 60 in 15 overs (Sathish four for eight, Arun three for five) lost to M.S.S.W.B. College, Madurai 62 for five in 14.2 overs.

Yadava College 70 in 16 overs (Ashwin three for 18, Ranjith three for 15) lost to American College 72 for no loss in 10 overs (Prabu 25 not out).

Madurai Institute of Social Science 86 in 17 overs (Rajesh three for 15) bt V.H.N.S.N. College, Virudhunagar 70 in 15.1 overs.

P.K.N. Arts and Science College, Thirumangalam 82 in 18 overs (Nishanth three for 10) lost to M.K. University College 84 in 13.1 overs (Thangabal 36 not out).

Arulmigu Kalasalingam College of Arts and Science, Kirshnankovil 71 in 16.1 overs (Murugan four for 10) lost to Thiagarajar College 72 in 12.2 overs.

M. Mukunth triumphs

M. Mukunth of SBOA MHSS won the junior boys' singles title in the Stag international inter-school table tennis tournament organised by SDAT-Ellis table tennis coaching Academy here on Thursday.

The results: Final: M. Mukunth bt M. Riyaz (TVS) 11-6, 11-7, 11-8.

Two wins for Chennai

Chennai Division registered two wins in the four-team league of the 17th inter-divisional Railway Protection Force (RPF) Kabaddi tournament at the Madurai Railway Stadium on Thursday.

The results: Chennai bt ICF 27-24; bt Tiruchi 80-23; ICF bt Madurai 47-32; Tiruchi bt Madurai 46-27.

Chess tournament

Rotary Club of Madurai South and Madurai District Chess Association in association with S.D.H.
