Colourful cultural procession taken out through Kollam city



REMEMBERING A SOCIAL REFORMER: SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan leading a cultural procession in connection with Sree Narayana Guru Jayanti celebrations in Kollam on Thursday.

KOLLAM: A colourful programme marked the 152nd Sree Narayana Guru Jayanti celebrations in Kollam on Thursday.

The city was virtually a sea of yellow, with flags and festoons in the colour visible everywhere. Huge cut-outs of the Guru were placed at various points. The celebrations were jointly organised by the Kollam SNDP Union and the SN Trusts.

The cultural procession taken out as part of the celebrations began from the Asramam Maidan at 5 p.m.

Hundreds of men, women and children from the various branches of the Kollam SNDP Union participated. The procession was led by SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan, Kollam SNDP Union president Mohan Shankar, and secretary R. Rajendran. The procession passed through Chinnakada, Taluk Cutchery, Main Road and culminated on SN College grounds. The public meeting was inaugurated by Labour Minister P.K. Gurudasan.
