BETTING BIG ON KERALA: Alok Bharadwaj, Vice-President, Canon India, and Alan Grant, President and CEO, Canon India, at a press conference in Kochi on Thursday.

KOCHI: Canon India Private Limited plans to achieve a sales target of Rs.500 crores, registering 30 per cent growth in 2007, said Alan Grant, president and CEO, and Alok Bharadwaj, vice-president, here on Thursday.

Addressing a press conference, they said Kerala is the benchmark for the company having contributed more than 30 per cent market share in all the product categories of its business.

In the coming year, the company is planning tie-ups with 50 national and regional retail chains to broad-base the market. Kerala customers, because of their exposure to quality products in international markets, are accounting for more than 33 per cent of the sales of digital cameras and copiers. The company plans to come out with a digital camcorder in the near future, they said.

Answering a question, they said that Kerala was number one in digital copier sales with 31 per cent market share, and number two in printers with 30 per cent market share. The State has emerged as the biggest market for the company in the country for printers.

They said that Kerala represented an important market for the company and hence the third exclusive retail zone, an exclusive Canon showroom in India - Canon X'perience in Kochi, was unveiled on Thursday. This raises the number of Canon retail stores in Kerala to 15, including two Digiclick zones and 12 IT imaging zones.

The company has also announced the launch of first exclusive Canon Care Centre to provide single-point access to customers for all their service needs for any product in the city.
