Patna: As part of effective crime-control measures, the NDA Government in Bihar is preparing to move the courts for cancellation of bail of history-sheeters, including LJP Member of Parliament Surajbhan and suspended JD (U) legislator Sunil Pandey, facing serious criminal charges. The police will soon move relevant courts for cancellation of bails of history-sheeters, including Surajbhan and Pandey, Additional Director General of Police (Headquarters) Abhyanand told PTI on Thursday. These history-sheeters are facing charges of murder, extortion and kidnapping and police want to book them under the tough Crime Control Act. Surajbhan is MP from Balia belonging to Ram Vilas Paswan's LJP, while Pandey is MLA from Piro, Bhojpur district. Surajbhan, who is on bail in CPI-M MLA Ajit Sarkar murder case and facing trial in several criminal cases, reportedly threatened a witness, who recently deposed before a Begusarai fast track court to record his statement against the MP. A non-bailable arrest warrant was recently issued against Pandey, suspended from ruling JD (U) for threatening to shoot Patna Senior Superintendent of Police Kundan Krishnan after he allegedly threatened the manager of an Andhra Pradesh-based private firm for refusing to pay extortion money. Besides, the Police headquarters has also asked the district magistrates and superintendents of police to prepare dossiers against the history-sheeters and ensure speedy trial of their cases, Inspector General of Police Anil Sinha said. Steps were also being taken to speed up legal action and trial against others like RJD MP Mohammad Shahabuddin, his Madhepura counterpart Pappu Yadav, former MP Anand Mohan and ex-MLA Rajan Tiwari. -- PTI
