JAIPUR: Rajasthan Governor Pratibha Patil has urged Indian scholars to study and assess the possible impact of recent changes in the status of Pluto as a planet on the astrological calculations. "There could be a better use and application of traditional knowledge with serious research," she said. "Considering the fact that there is so much interest as well as faith in astrology in India, there is need for in-depth study of the possible impact of the recent astronomical findings about the planets. Sometimes we read about 12 planets instead of nine earlier," she said. Ms. Patil was speaking after the launch of website (www.astrologyind.org ) by Bharatiya Prachya Jyotish Sansthan at a function organised in Raj Bhavan here on Wednesday. "Astrology is a serious and deep subject which has a great influence on our society. The growing expectations of the people from this subject requires application of science and technology," Ms. Patil said. She felicitated 25 persons, including Acharya Gulabji Maharaj of Kathmandu, Baba Sarveshwar Das Kacheedawale, scholars Rameshchand Pandey, Om Prakash Sharma, Satish Chandra Shastri, Vinod Kumar Sharma, Murli Manohar Joshi, senior bureaucrats Ashok Singhvi, Giriraj Singh and G.K. Tiwari, Principal of SMS Medical College, Ashok Pangaria, and environmentalist, Harsh Vardhan.
