Seven Ganesh revellers drowned

Kakinada: Seven persons have been drowned during immersion of Ganesh idols in three separate incidents since Wednesday night.

Four persons - Allu Venkata Kondala Rayudu (22), Jagata Durga (20), Gollapalli Vasu (22) and Kakkirala Ramu (21), all from Payakaraopet — met a watery grave during immersion in the Tandava, near Katralla Konda, of Tuni rural mandal. While three bodies were fished out in the night itself, Rayudu's body was recovered on Thursday.

Three Ganesh revellers were drowned in Vizianagaram district. In Kothavalasa mandal, Attada Rao (27) of Tummikapalle and Mogga Raju (15) of Kothavalasa were drowned in Nimmalapalem tank while they were immersing the idol.

A woman Boddu Suramma (34) fell in a tank at Lakkidam in Gantyada mandal on Thursday when she was trying to immerse an idol. Her body was fished out later, K.K. Achari, Vizianagaram SDPO, said.
