Hooda invites EU investment in Haryana

`Conducive atmosphere' assured


  • Thrust areas like footwear, electronics and IT identified
  • European Business Group's role hailed by Chief Minister

    New Delhi: The Haryana Government on Thursday invited European companies to invest in the State and assured a conducive atmosphere with a better infrastructure.

    ``We have plans for a multi-dimensional development map to boost our infrastructure with world class facilities,'' Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said at a meeting with the European Business Group here.

    "The State has identified thrust areas such as footwear, food processing, electronics and IT, automobiles and auto components, handloom and textiles for attracting investments after analysing their growth potential and long-term sustainability," he said.

    Mr. Hooda appreciated the Group's role in influencing the business environment to increase bilateral trade and investment between the European Union and India, according to a State Government release.

    With the unveiling of the New Industrial Policy, Haryana has become one of the most preferred investment destinations from India and abroad, it said.

    The meeting was attended by EU Ambassador Francisco daCamara Gomes, Finland Ambassador Asko Numminen and officials from the embassies of Austria, Britain, Belgium, France, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain, the release said.

    Help to Maruti Udyog

    Mr Hooda has assured Maruti Udyog Ltd of every possible assistance and facilities for its production and expansion projects in the State.

    At a dinner meeting here on Wednesday night, Mr. Hooda assured O. Suzuki, Chairman and CEO of Suzuki Motor Corporation, Japan, that effective steps had been taken to provide infrastructure support for speeding up industrial development in the State. He said a 2000-MW power plant would be set up in the SEZ in Gurgaon district . - PTI/ UNI
