Elected to planning panel

Fifteen members have been elected from panchayats

MANGALORE: Fifteen new members have been elected to the district planning committee from the panchayat seats, while there are nine candidates for four seats in the district planning committee from the civic bodies, according to the final list of candidates in fray issued by the district administration here on Wednesday. For the civic bodies the electoral college is derived from Mangalore City Corporation (60 voters) Town Panchayat, Mulky (15) Town Panchayat, Ullal (20) Town Municipal Council, Moodbidri (23), Town Panchayat, of Bantwal (20), Town Panchayat, Belthangady (11), Town Municipal Council, Puttur (21) and Town Panchayat, Sullia (15).

This makes up a total of 185 voters.

The candidates participating from the civic bodies are M. Venkatesh Achar, H. Aboobackar, Abdul Rasheed, Mahabala Maarla, K. Diwakar, Suresh Kumar, Premananda Shetty, V.R. Nayak and Bhoja Kotian.

The elections would be held on September 11, added the release.
