Kashipatna emerges as model for other villages

    MANGALORE: The development achieved at Kashipatna is an apt example of what people can achieve by electing the right representatives, Mamatha Gatti, president of Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat has said. The effort of every villager had ensured the development of the village and Kashipatna had become a model for other villages to emulate, she said.

    Participating in a foundation stone laying ceremony for development projects and inauguration of a high school at Kashipatna in the taluk here on Wednesday, Ms. Gatti said education was essential for development and was a constitution right of every child. Parents should understand their responsibility in ensuring that children accessed the best of education, she said.

    Prabhakar Bangera, Belthangady MLA, who presided over the function, said the State Government was responding to various developmental needs of people. The Government had identified backward villages under the "Upagrama" scheme and was taking steps for their development. Steps had also been taken to provide power supply to all villages in the taluk by 2010, he added.
