HYDERABAD: Toyota Corolla, considered one of the most stylish, luxury and safest sedans, has been made affordable to a wider section of customers to mark 40 years of its launch. The ninth generation Corolla launched in India in 2003 and sold 30,000 units so far in the country, will be now within the reach of a major segment of senior and middle level executives, says Ashish Kumar, Deputy General Manager, Marketing, Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt. Ltd.
Addressing mediapersons here on Thursday, Mr. Ashish Kumar said that the company as a special anniversary offer launched a new variant Toyota Corolla Executive at an ex-showroom price of Rs. 8.78 lakhs in city. "We have been getting inquiries from potential customers who were only backing away due to budget constraints," he said.
Month-long scheme
Toyota announced month-long customer centric scheme offering a reduced down payment of up to Rs. 40,000, a gold coin worth Rs. 40,000 for all key variants of Toyota Corolla. Sailesh Shetty, DGM, Sales, said since launch 220 Corollas were sold in city and 40 to 45 cars were sold a month in the State. Globally 31.6 million Corollas were sold in 149 counties since launch in 1966 in Japan.
