NEW DELHI: With the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) not fulfilling its promise of making public the model answer sheets in each subject for the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination 2006, some aggrieved candidates have decided to rope in activists associated with the Right to Information Act. They along with other aspirants across the country will join in a campaign for making the examination and the recruitment process more transparent. Coming together under the aegis of Transparency Seekers, the aggrieved candidates said on Thursday that despite letters from the Chief Information Commissioner the UPSC had not put up the model answer sheets on its website, something the Commission had promised early in August. Apart from model answer sheets in each subject, the candidates had also been demanding that the Commission furnish information about cut-off marks in each subject under each category and also the marks obtained by the aggrieved candidates. Earlier in the day, the aggrieved candidates staged a protest outside the UPSC office on Shahjahan Road here. They blindfolded themselves with black ribbons to register their protest. The UPSC representatives met two of the candidates but did not come out with any concrete answers on the steps being taken by the Commission to meet their demands. Meanwhile, the Transparency Seekers also exploring the possibility of approaching the court in this regard. On September 2, Transparency Seekers' members had met the United Progressive Alliance Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and apprised her of their grievances. "Some Members of Parliament have also raised the issue in Parliament during Zero Hour but the Commission has not responded," said Sanjib Shukla, a member of Transparency Seekers.
