Nandrajog to meet Ritwik in semifinals

NEW DELHI: Gaurav Nandrajog overcame Harinder Pal Singh 9-7, 9-0, 10-8 in the quarterfinals of the 54th National squash championship at the Delhi Gymkhana Club here on Friday.

The fourth-seeded Nandrajog made several placement errors and allowed Harinder to close the gap in the first game before he took it at 9-7.Nandrajog will take on top seed Ritwik Bhattacharya in the semifinals on Saturday. Ritwik beat Naresh Kumar 9-0, 9-4, 9-1 in just 23 minutes.

In the bottom half of the draw, Sourav Ghosal and Siddharth Suchde made it through to the semifinals, beating their respective opponents in straight games.

In the women's event, Joshna Chinappa cruised into the semifinals beating Shubra Aggarwal of Delhi in less than 20 minutes. She now meets Surbhi Mishra of Rajasthan.

The second-seeded Dipika Pallikal was also ruthless in shutting out Sruti Ashok. Dipika will play Anwesha Reddy of Tamil Nadu, who received her second straight walkover.

Women: Joshna Chinappa (TN) bt Shubra Aggarwal (Del) 9-0, 9-0, 9-1, Surbhi Mishra (Raj) bt Shivangi Paranjape (Mah) 9-3, 9-7, 9-7, Dipika Pallikal (TN) bt Sruti Ashok (TN) 9-0, 9-0, 9-3.
