CHENNAI: Southwest monsoon has been vigorous over north interior Karnataka.

Rainfall occurred at most places over Lakshadweep and north interior Karnataka and at a few places over Tamil Nadu, Kerala and south interior Karnataka. Isolated rainfall occurred over Andhra Pradesh and coastal Karnataka.

Manamelkudi and Lakkavalli (Chickmagalur dt) recorded heavy rainfall of 10 centimetres each.

The other chief amounts of rainfall recorded in centimetres are:

Agathi Airport and Thirthahalli (Shimoga dt.) 5 each, Adiramapattinam, Kadaladi (Ramanathapuram dt.), Kodaikanal, CIAL Kochi, Hubli, Ranebennur (Gadag dt.), Hungund (Bagalkote dt.) and Bheemal (Nizamabad dt.) 4 each, Virudhachalam (Cuddalore dt.), Ariyalur, Thiruvananthapuram Airport, Kavaratti, Soundatti (Belgaum dt.), Bagalkote, Muddhebihal (Bijapur dt.), Kadur (Chickmagalur dt.), Hassan, Harihara (Devangere dt.) and Madnoor (Nizamabad dt.) 3 each.

Forecast (Valid until Sunday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places over Lakshadweep and at a few places over Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Kerala, Telangana and Karnataka.

Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema.

Forecast for Chennai City and neighbourhood (Valid until Sunday morning): Partly cloudy. Possibility of shower or thundershower in some areas during evening or night.

Outlook for subsequent two days: No large change.
