KHAMMAM: Maoists killed a youth, Sunder Rao, in Mummuru village of Wajeedu mandal in the early hours of Friday suspecting him to be a police informer. Police said that Sundar Rao had earlier been party to militant activities in the area. He incurred the wrath of the Maoists for staying away from the organisation for quite some time. A six-member squad stormed his house around 3 a.m., dragged him out and gunned him down. The naxalites left the village after warning the villagers against informing the law enforcing agencies. The body was sent for post-mortem. Meanwhile, Kiran alias Kantaiah, a naxalite of the CPI (ML-Prajapratighatana) was killed in an encounter with the police in Kachanapalli forests in the early hours. The police said that Kiran, a member of the Sureshannna dalam, was involved in cases of extortion and violence.
