MUMBAI: The BCCI has nominated Amish Saheba (Gujarat), Suresh Shastri (Mumbai) and G.A. Pratap Kumar (Tamil Nadu) as its representatives in the ICC's International Panel of Umpires. They will replace A.V. Jayaprakash, K. Hariharan and I. Sivaram. "There has been suggestions from the ICC that Jayaprakash and Hariharan would not be upgraded to the Elite Panel and that the BCCI has to develop another set of umpires. The performances of Saheba, Shastri and Pratap have been good in the last three years. So we have recommended Saheba and Shastri for international match postings and Pratap as a third umpire," a senior BCCI official said. The decision to nominate them was taken at the umpires' sub-committee meeting here on Friday. They are likely to get their first international assignment in the home series against West Indies and Sri Lanka next year. The BCCI has short-listed 29 umpires from the written test held recently. Along with 25 former first class cricketers, they will appear for a viva-voce and practical exam soon. Nearly 25 umpires will be eventually picked. Special Correspondent
