BANGALORE: Sharmila Nicollet won the gold division title in style at the South India ladies amateur golf tournament here on Friday. The 15-year-old had a brilliant start, notching up three birdies on the front nine to finish up three under for the first half. By the time the leader group had reached the 14th hole, she had a big lead. She finished with a par round for the day and won the championship by 14 strokes from Meghna Bal. Sharmila started off with a one under 71 in the first round, three over 75 in the second, two over 74 in the third and par 72 for the fourth. Meghna and Vaishavi Sinha just didn't have a chance to bridge the gap. In the silver division, Dhanalakshmi Rice took the title yet again with a score of 352. Megha Verma finished runner-up with a score of 357. Priya Khanna had bagged the title in the bronze division on the third day itself as this handicap group plays only 54 holes for the championship. The results: Gold division (0-12): 1. Sharmila Nicollet (71, 75, 74, 72) 292; Meghna Bal (81, 74, 74, 77) 306; Vaishavi Sinha (79, 74, 74, 80) 307. Silver division (13-24): 1. Dhanalakshmi Rice (86, 90, 87, 89) 352; 2. Megha Verma (92, 89, 85, 91) 357; 3. Rukmini Mehta (91, 88, 91, 88) 358. Other prizes: Gold division: Gross (h/c 0-12): 1. S. Nicollet (292), 2.
