M.P. administration denies order to suspend labour tax recovery

`The said order is totally fake and forged'

BHOPAL: The Madhya Pradesh General Administration Department (GAD) has clarified that it has not issued any order to the State works departments to suspend the recovery of one percent labour tax and to refund the tax that has already been collected.

The State GAD has said in a statement issued here on Friday that the order for suspending the recovery of labour tax is totally fake and forged. It has been stated officially that various departments had recently received an order No/. 975/S312/1/110 to suspend the recovery of one percent labour tax and to refund the tax amount already collected.

The General Administration Department has sent a letter to all the departments, divisional commissioners and district collectors informing them about the fake order.

When contacted, the State Principal Secretary GAD, Kushiram said that the law already exists regarding labour tax and it cannot be waived by a GAD order. He said that his department had issued a clarification on the basis of news reports stating that an order to suspend the recovery of labour tax was in circulation. He said: "the order has not been brought to his notice by any department. Once it is done, we will take notice and suitable action."
