Two killed in road accident

KARUR: Two persons were killed in a road accident near here on Thursday night.

M. Gunasekaran (35) of VOC Street, Karur and his friend R. Mohanraj (30) of Ganapathy Lane here, died when a van collided with the two-wheeler they were riding at Veerarakkiam on the Karur-Tiruchi Highway.

The duo, returning from Kulithalai, tried to overtake a car when the van hit them.

Gunasekaran died on the spot while Mohanraj was declared brought dead at the Government Hospital.

Van driver, M. Karthik (27) of Thiruneelakudi near Thanjavur, who was also injured, is recouping at a private hospital.

Mayanur police have registered a case and are investigating.
