KOCHI: The Institute of Small Enterprises and Development (ISED), Kochi, will conduct a national-level conference on the concept of `financial inclusion' and its practice here on September 19 and 20. Officials from the Reserve Bank of India, Planning Commission, Ministry of Finance, leading banks and insurance companies, International Labour Organisation, UNDP, academics, industry, etc., are expected to take part in the meet, said a press release. The term ` financial inclusion' implies the coexistence of a continuum of financial services outlets that work within their comparative advantage to serve the poor and low-income people. The two-day conference will focus on a review of the current macro trends in finance. The details of the inclusive policies in agriculture and allied activities and micro and small enterprises, as also the role of technology, which revolutionised the banking process, will be discussed. The conference has arranged a high profile technical forum, which will bring together top leaders in finance, economy, and administration. Details can be had on the institute website at www.isedonline.org or from the office on telephone: 2808171 or 2809884, said the release.
