Kapur in fifth spot

Singapore: Shiv Kapur came up with a one-over 73 and lie in the fifth spot in the $3 million Barclays Singapore Open on Saturday.

The Asian Tour's Rookie of the Year in 2005 is six shots behind the leaders, defending champion Adam Scott and Ernie Els.

Despite the conditions taking a toll, Indians did well to move up the leaderboard and all six of them who made the cut were in the top-25.

Jyoti Randhwa (72) was tied eighth, Arjun Singh (75) and SSP Chowrasia (73) were tied 19th and Jeev Milkha Singh (70) and Gaurav Ghei (72) were tied 25th.

Missing the cut

In Ancaster, Canada, Arjun Atwal and Indian-born Swede Daniel Chopra continued their miserable run and missed a second successive cut as they dropped out of contention after the second round of the $6,250,000 Canadian Open here.

Atwal carded an improved level-par 70 but that hardly helped his cause as he fell by the wayside with a two-day total of two-over 142.Chopra, however, put up a below par show and carded a two-over 72 to miss the cut by a single shot.

Sweden's Jesper Parnevik (68), with a two-round total of seven-under 133, was tied for the top spot with Colombian Camilo Villegas and Americans Arron Oberholser and Jonathan Byrd. — Agencies
