MinashGabriel, Benjamin Thomas hog the limelight

Hyderabad: An all-round display by Minash Gabriel, who claimed six for 61 and struck 187 and a century by Benjamin Thomas (170) were the highlights for the EMCC in its drawn match against Khalsa in the A-Divison (two-day) league cricket championship here on Saturday.

In another drawn match between Ours and Continental, Md.Asad Ali (104), G.V.R.Rohit (104 not out) and Vamsi (110 not out) were the century makers.

The scores:

A-Division (two-day) league: Ours 235 (Md. Asad Ali 104, N. Sriram five for 23) drew with Continental 406 for four (G.V.R. Rohit 104 not out, Vamsi 110 not out, V. Vamshi 97, Fazil Imran 42).

Khalsa 243 (Rajesh 60 not out, Minash Gabriel six for 61) drew with EMCC 416 for four (Benjamin Thomas 170, Minash Gabriel 187, Baljeet Singh four for 139).

Mega City 241 (Sunil 78, Irfan Khan five for 44) drew with Deccan Chronicle 258 (Parth Jhala 57, Sunil five for 50).

AC Guards make merry

AC Guards drubbed Tarbund XI 11-0 in the A-2 division hockey league championship at Begumpet Police Stadium here on Saturday. The winner led 5-0 at the break.

Three goals each by Shaikh Waheed, Abdul Nayeem and Abdul Rehman and a brace by Mohd Moizuddin completed the tally for the winners.

In another match, Deccan Blues also recorded a big 7-0 win against Friends Club with Kripal Singh scoring thrice, Sandeep Singh netting a brace, Abrar Ahmed and Sharat Reddy scored once each.

Inter-schools cricket

The third Himalaya Cup inter-schools (under-15) cricket tournament will be held from

September 12 at different grounds, according to N.Shivlal Yadav, secretaryof HCA. A record number of 54 schools will compete for top honours in the event to be played on knock-out basis.
