Mongoose hair recovered

NEW DELHI: A 28-year-old man has been arrested by the North-East Delhi police for allegedly dealing in various organs of wild animalsThe police claim to have recovered 50 gm of mongoose hair and 11 brushes made of mongoose hair from the accused.

According to the police, accused Durga Prasad was arrested at Nand Nagri on Friday midnight.

During interrogation, he allegedly confessed to having received the mongoose hair from people he did not know by name.

Three arrested

NEW DELHI: Three persons have been arrested by the Central Delhi police for allegedly killing a shopkeeper inside his shop here on Thursday.

According to the police, Sonu (23), Yaseen (24) and Shravan (22) were arrested on Saturday for allegedly killing Om Prakash, a shopkeeper in Chawri Bazar.

The police said Sonu had worked in Om Prakash's shop about three years ago. On Thursday, Sonu and his friends Yaseen and Shravan consumed liquor during the day and reached Om Prakash's shop and asked for a job. Om Prakash objected to their entering the shop after consuming liquor. The trio allegedly got angry and banged his head several times against the counter.

A correction

A reader in Patiala, Priyanka Wadhawan, writes:

The report, "A pat from Delhi for Rajasthan", in this edition (August 20) said that Chhattisgarh achieved a 10 per cent reduction in the infant mortality rate (IMR) in one year. It should have been a reduction of 10, not 10 per cent, as IMR is calculated per 1,000 births, not 100 births.
