Kochi: Thangavunna Vidhyabhyasam, a book written by Sarang Gopalakrishnan and Vijayalakshmi, has been selected for the G. Kumarapillai award instituted by the Poornodaya Book Trust in Kochi. The annual award is given in recognition of individuals, organisations and literary works actively involved in promoting Gandhian values in daily life. It consists of a purse of Rs.5,001 and citation. Recipients of the award include D. Pankajashakurup, Bheeman Guruji, R.K. Sundaram, and Thiruvathra Damodaran. K. Parameswarasharma, secretary of the Poornodaya Book Trust and Gandhi Peace Foundation, said in a release here that the award for 2006 would be distributed at a function to be held at the Sahitya Akademi Hall in Thrissur on September 17. Revenue Minister K.P. Rajendran will present the award.
