Letters to the Editor
The Vande Mataram row has been blown out of proportion. The debate only helped in kindling latent communal tensions. The warring sides have, of course, achieved their objective of further alienating the communities. Nobody stands to lose except our beloved India. Let us hope the common man, the real India, will realise the true motives of the riot mongers in triggering such a conflict.

Why do we believe that what a few Muslim clerics say is what every Muslim in India wants? Similarly, why do we get excited about the views of the VHP and the BJP? Do these groups represent Hindus in India? We make the mistake of ignoring the diverse identities in every community.
Anup J. Nambiar,

Murali Saranadhi,
