KOLLAM: Thirty-nine fishermen on board a traditional in-board engine fishing craft who got marooned at sea on Sunday morning following an engine failure were rescued. Officers of the Marine Enforcement Wing at Neendakara said all on board were safe. The boat and fishermen were from Pandarathuruthu in Alapad. The boat was at sea off the Arattupuzha coast when the incident happened. The sea was rough at that time. The engine developed trouble when the net, which was cast got entangled in the propeller. Another boat, which happened to pass by at that time, offered initial help. Those on board then contacted the Marine Enforcement Wing at 11.30 a.m. A rescue boat was sent to the site. By 2.30 p.m. the boat and the entire crew were tugged safely to the Thrikunnapuzha shore.
